New York, NYOverviewVook is recruiting for an exceptional Designer to join our team. We are revolutionizing digital publishing with the introduction of its easy-to-use, cloud-based eBook creation platform. Vook allows users to easily create, style, enhance, review, publish and track the sales of their eBooks, enabling content holders everywhere to light up their titles for the new world of mobile devices.
A successful Designer candidate is an innovative designer, a team player, and is eager to create interactions and visual designs that engage our users. The Designer will work closely with the Product Team to determine and execute the best visual and user experience for Vook’s rapidly growing client base of publishers, authors and agents.
A key task for the Designer will be taking wireframes and definition to pixel-perfect comp stage, working with Product and Marketing on our corporate website, as well teaming up with Support to maintain our help guides and update emails.
Vook is a fast-paced start-up and every employee is expected to execute tasks and not simply manage others to execution. You will roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Product Lead and UI/UX Designer on our cloud based web-app
- Work with support, customers, Engineering and Marketing to create and iterate interaction and visual designs
- Utilize internal resources to meet production schedules and maintain a coherent design vision throughout the production process
- Support Agile development and lean startup processes to help the company iterate quickly and effectively.
- Research the latest presentation layer technologies, UX and interaction concepts, best practices, online trends and provide recommendations for the team.
Requirements
- Industry experience spanning 3-5 years in interactive and visual design for the web.
- Laser-focused attention to the details. You have a knack for seeing the most broken part of an app AND can offer a good idea on how to fix it.
- A portfolio demonstrating a breadth and experience in visual and interaction design as well as a thorough understanding of good design process.
- Can scale wireframes from low to hi-fi: whiteboard photos to gorgeous designs.
- Experience with web-applications and WordPress a plus.
- HTML+CSS skills required—HTML5 a bonus! JS and front-end development skills a major bonus.
