New York, NYOverviewVook is recruiting for an exceptional UX/UI Designer to join our team. We are revolutionizing digital publishing with the introduction of its easy-to-use, cloud-based eBook creation platform. Vook allows users to easily create, style, enhance, review, publish and track the sales of their eBooks, enabling content holders everywhere to light up their titles for the new world of mobile devices.
A successful UX/UI Designer candidate is an innovative designer, a team player, and is eager to gain a detailed understanding of the needs and expectations of our platform users. The UX/UI Designer will work closely with the VP of Product to determine and execute the best experience for Vook’s rapidly growing client base of publishers, authors and agents.
A key task for the UX/UI Designer will be wireframing and working on specs in concert with the Product Manager, iterating on wireframes, following best in class practices for information architecture, interaction and visual design, and working with our engineers to establish a new standard of excellence for ease of eBook creation in a cloud based publishing environment.
Vook is a start-up and every employee is expected to execute tasks and not simply manage others to execution. You will roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

Responsibilities
- Works in parallel with Product Lead on our cloud based web-app on UI/UX development
- Create and iterate prototypes
- Plan and execute UX testing of prototypes, monitor user feedback, and A/B testing.
- Work with internal resources to meet production schedules and maintain a coherent design vision throughout the production process
- Support Agile development to help the company iterate quickly and effectively.
- Research the latest presentation layer technologies, UX concepts, best practices, online trends, and provide recommendations for the team to consider.
Requirements
- Industry experience spanning 3-5 years in interactive design, information architecture or visual for web applications (not just web sites!).
- You’re passionate about user experience and designing/building great products.
- Laser-focused attention to the details. You have a knack for seeing the most broken part of an app AND can offer a good idea on how to fix it.
- Solid portfolio demonstrating a breadth and experience in information architecture, interaction design, visual design as well as a thorough understanding of good design process is a requirement.
- Ability to scale wireframes from low to hi-fi: whiteboard to gorgeous design specs.
- Development experience in a Agile/XP/Scrum/Lean software environments.
- Know-how A/B testing and analytical log analysis to identify problem areas a plus.
- HTML+CSS skills are a bonus—HTML5 a bigger bonus!
